A workshop exploring erotic movement and self-expression, seeking to find the core of your movement rather than starting with an idea of what movement is meant to look like.
Being witnessed (or witnessing others) in dance or erotic movement is often a profound experience. The potential exists to discover all sorts of things about ourselves, and have experiences through movement that take sex and self-expression to some very interesting places. Dance exists in tantric and erotic traditions throughout the ages for good reasons, and movement has been picked up within the field of psychology because it's powerful.
In this workshop (formerly 'Erotic Movement'), we will be respectfully finding ways to negotiate with our reservations and shyness, and tap some of our sense of adventure. We will start with gentle movement by ourselves, and then progress to dance and witnessing.
This approach is not about moving to someone else's idea of what dance or erotic movement is meant to look like; it's about finding your movement, allowing your body to express itself however that happens to be. The approach of this workshop is also welcoming of bodies of all shapes and sizes.
Whatever you do is a perfect expression of yourself, and there is as much of a skill in the receiving as there is in the giving.
In 'Sexuality, Psychology and Movement', there are no references to gender. Everyone gets the experience of being witnessed, and of doing the witnessing.
We welcome you to go beyond gender conditioning, and in particular the traditional idea that people socialised as men do the witnessing while people socialised as women do the moving. There is a lot of pleasure and empowerment to be gained from playing all roles in the exchange, so in this workshop, everybody is visible, everyone's movement matters, and so does everyone's witnessing. There is room for us all to stretch … and maybe even do a twirl.
We all come from different backgrounds and have different levels of experience with this work, and will all be encouraged to get to whatever level is right for us (from cautious to delicious).
The workshop is mostly experiential, including some solo practice, some pair-work, and some small-group work.
If you're interested in this workshop you may want to check out The Forest: Touch & Embodiment Ritual, and the Curiosity workshop and play-space.

Tickets, Logistics, and Late Policy:
Our 'rounds' of tickets are really simple: they're all the same, except that some of them are cheaper, to encourage you to book in early (because it makes a huge difference to us in terms of planning). Round One tickets are similar to 'early bird' tickets, and make up almost half of all ticket sales. Round Two tickets, slightly more expensive than Round One, also make up almost half of all ticket sales. Round Three tickets are generally only there once we're close to being sold out, but can squeeze in a late-comer or two. If you're feeling generous, you can buy whatever ticket feels right, but in general, folks buy the cheapest ones available. Tickets range in price from $60 to $90, per person. It is never possible to buy tickets on the door, nor by paying with cash. See our FAQ for more information on this. Workshops start at the advertised time, and doors will be locked ten minutes later. This is because late arrivals interrupt the dynamic of the group, and will miss crucial safety information. |

"Dancing this way was very liberating and freeing."
•
"Wow! I was incredibly challenged but felt safe at all times. I haven't done much of this sort of stuff before ... This started opening up eroticism as a tangible and personal concept for me."
•
"Very inspiring, triggered a profound healing process for me... Thank you soooo much!! I love and honour the work you guys do, thank you."
•
"It was wonderful. I liked how it was catered to people at all levels. I loved the psychology exercises and found them really helpful. I didn't like some of the music, but I can appreciate that musical tastes vary hugely and that it may have even be helpful for me to move my body to music that doesn't get me going. I liked that we switched partners constantly. Thank you so much! I feel more in touch with my body and its sexuality/sensuality."
•
"Like coming home after a long absence from my self. Loved the exercises, the honour of witnessing and being witnessed in a welcoming accepting space to be myself."
•
"It felt natural, safe, fun, and definitely pleasurable."
•
"This was a well designed workshop with exercises that progressed through challenging existing patterns to uncover authentic expression. Profound stuff. I've done a lot of witnessed movement work over the years in a variety of styles, and this workshop shone for me alongside some very established and internationally well-regarded work. Rog is so accomplished: guiding a diverse group of strangers into intimate territory is no small feat. I felt entirely safe to explore and share my 'becoming' self."
