Thanks for your interest in Curious Creatures.
From ~2011, we ran workshops and events in sexuality, relationships, self-development, and communication. We taught around 20 different workshops to 10,000 people directly, with 20-30,000 enrolments. That was in addition to many millions of listens to our podcast, public speaking, and writing.
Over the course of 2024 we finished most of our activities, but we're still running our old podcast, and you can still get our Consent Cards. We have no plans to offer workshops again at this stage. We've recently closed down the old Curious Conversations With Sex podcast, and are focussed now on the Pan-Political podcast, which is all about what needs to happen in the next wave of the gender equality movement.
The mission statement was:
"Towards a world that is sex-positive, more inclusive, and safer.
Where communities are educated and incredibly good at communication and consent.
Where individuals are empowered, liberated, and comfortably self-exploring."
It has been wild. It has been an honor to hold space for so many of you, and I am very proud of us all. I have a solid sense of satisfaction, and I know from feedback that it's brought a lot of benefit. I have been told many times that people's lives have been changed, and leaders in the local sexuality scenes have noticed a measurable change in the way consent plays out thanks to the influence of Curious Creatures.
The workshops I used to run included:
Psychology workshops (all very heavily influenced by, and with thanks to, Process Oriented Psychology)
- The Joy of Accusations (relationship conflict work)
- Community Dialog (group conflict resolution)
- Playing With The Cards You've Been Dealt (about rank, power, and privilege).
Sexuality workshops
- Fun Little Sex Games (really 'therapeutic little sex games').
- Adventurous Touch and Intimacy (the original workshop, about how to explore interests and taboos)
...and various others, all with the intention of imparting communication skills, consent as a model of getting your best possible experiences, and following yourself rather than external models of what you're meant to do.
Our Consent Cards are effectively a sex-education on a card. There's a version for general sexual activities, and a version for kink activities.
Again, thanks for your support and interest over the years. It has been a spectacularly interesting world to share with you, and I'm so glad that a friend and I took that first step, 12 years ago, to offer to run a workshops so as to share a few things we'd learned. It was the best kind of slippery slope from there.
