By bringing awareness and consciousness to all of you, you will have the freedom to be all that you are meant to be!

Due to COVID-19 our in-person workshop versions are temporarily postponed. In the meantime you might want to check out our 'Online Social' as a possible solution to social isolation: https://www.curiouscreatures.biz/online-social.html
Or click on our 'Online Workshops' menu to see everything on offer.

(Re)discovered by renowned psychologist Carl Jung, our ‘Shadow Self’ is part of our unconscious mind and consists of everything we hide, disown or reject due to anger, guilt, shame, disgust, grief … and fear.

We suppress, repress and ignore these parts as a way of keeping ourselves likable, accepted and safe. The problem is that when we discount any part of us and push it away, it doesn’t disappear. Instead it gets pushed into a dark corner of our unconscious world.

In this session, you will learn the difference between your light and dark shadow, how to reclaim aspects of yourself you have denied, and relate it to the need to heal yourself. By bringing awareness and consciousness to all of you, you will have the freedom to be all that you are meant to be!

This is a gentle, yet profound practice and we invite brave modern-day seekers who have already been doing inner work to join us. All emotions and tears are welcomed.

As a trained sexological bodyworker, Relationship Counselor & Clinical Sexologist Dr Martha Tara Lee has been teaching communication and sexuality for the past 10 years. As a facilitator she has a direct, straight-talking, and witty facilitation style.

Format:
  • Welcome + introduction
  • Light Shadow - How to choose the shadow word to work on
  • Dark Shadow – Phases to work on
  • Sharing + Q&A

Interactive and Experiential parts:
Almost the entire presentation will be interactive and experiential. This is a non-sexual workshop.

Core Benefits for Participants of this Session:
  • Increased sense of well-being and self-acceptance
  • Normalisation of all parts of ourselves – light and dark
  • Better attuned observation skills
  • More trust of your intuition
  • Ability to practice this with friends/partners in future

Bring:
  • Come in comfortable loose-fitting clothes

Shadow Work is presented by Dr Martha Tara Lee (from Eros Coaching in Singapore) who strives to be one of the best sexologists in the world. She has a great knowledge of her material, and is very direct and humorous in her delivery.

If you're interested in this workshop you may want to check out Dr Martha Lee's other upcoming workshops in Brisbane or in Melbourne, especially Deep Listening, Soul Gazing and Rediscovering Sexuality. Or related Curious Creatures' workshops, Sexuality, Psychology & Movement, Roleplay Your Way, The Joy of Accusations and Power, Rank & Privilege: Playing with the cards you have. Or see our 25+ sexuality and self-development workshops.
Tickets, Logistics, and Late Policy:
Our 'rounds' of tickets are really simple: they're all the same, except that some of them are cheaper, to encourage you to book in early (because it makes a huge difference to us in terms of planning).
Round One tickets are similar to 'early bird' tickets, and make up almost half of all ticket sales.
Round Two tickets, slightly more expensive than Round One, also make up almost half of all ticket sales.
Round Three tickets are generally only there once we're close to being sold out, but can squeeze in a late-comer or two.

If you're feeling generous, you can buy whatever ticket feels right, but in general, folks buy the cheapest ones available.

Tickets range in price from $55 to $75, per person.

It is never possible to buy tickets on the door, nor by paying with cash. See our FAQ for more information on this.

Workshops start at the advertised time, and doors will be locked ten minutes later. This is because late arrivals interrupt the dynamic of the group, and will miss crucial safety information.

"I didn’t know quite what to expect when I went to this workshop. I partnered with many different participants and confronted my idea of who I am, challenging them with who I'd like to be. I had to verbalise who I wanted to be and feel grounded in it, before the person I was partnered with would believe me. To feel grounded in the statements I was making, I had to believe them and  shift my beliefs about myself. It was very challenging, but really valuable as I had to challenge long-standing beliefs about myself, which I’d never attempted before. One of the other valuable things I got from the workshop was the other participants' opinions of who they’d like to see me become. They were encouraging me to come out of my shell, and challenge my identity. Dr Lee was an entertaining and encouraging presenter who challenged and motivated us to engage with the workshop activities, and to push ourselves."

"I attended Martha's Shadow workshop recently in Sydney and it was definitely an eye opening experience for me. It allowed me to confront a lot of my subconscious negative thought patterns around my sexuality and work on the limiting beliefs I have that stem from it. It empowered me by helping me realise that I am more than the stories I tell myself. I would highly recommend Martha and her workshops to anyone wanting to learn, grow or heal in the areas of sexuality and relationships. Her lighthearted approach makes talking about taboo subjects very easy and provides a space where vulnerability is not just permitted but welcomed."
